Curriculums
The Film and Video Technology program, offered on the Rankin Campus, provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to find employment in the film and video industry. The program prepares its students to work on feature film, television commercials, music videos, documentary films, Internet multimedia and other audio-visual media forms. The program may be 1-2 years in length an offers the Career Certificate, Technical Certificate and/or Associate of Applied Science Degree.
The Animation and Simulation Design Technology program emphasizes the techniques and tools used in game design and the creative design or content of such media. The Animation and Simulation Design Technology program may be 1-2 years in length and offers a Career certificate, Technical certificate and/or an Associate of Applied Science Degree.
Radio and Television Production and Broadcasting Technology is a postsecondary program that prepares individuals to work in a variety of broadcasting media. Students learn the operation of radio/television broadcasting equipment to support broadcast managers in the production of materials used in broadcasting; and the use of those materials or programs in the radio/television format.The program offers three options: a Career Certificate, a Technical Certificate, and an Associate of Applied Science Degree.
ABOUT
Begun in the fall of 2011, the Rankin campus of Hinds Community College is the only community college in the state that offers an associates degree in Film and Video and Animation and Simulation Design Technology. In the fall of 2017, we are proud to offer the Radio and Television Production & Broadcasting Technology program at the Rankin campus.
The majority of films and television shows since 2012 shot in the Magnolia state have had students or alumni working as crew members or actors.
Former students of the animation program have worked on the animation for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and present students have created logos for the Mississippi Community College Board

The broadcasting program has internship programs with all Jackson, MS, television stations and produces the Mississippi's only high school pregame show HIGH SCHOOL GAMEDAY.
